Ramaphosa announced that he will not be going to New York this year for UNGA. South Africa’s delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor. Ramaphosa says that, instead of attending UNGA, he will focus on a number of crises currently facing the country. He will work on implementing measures against gender-based violence and public violence, which almost certainly refers to the xenophobic attacks on foreigners.

At a rugby stadium in Pretoria on May 25, Cyril Ramaphosa was sworn in as South Africa’s fourth democratically elected president since 1994. The U.S. presidential delegation to the inauguration was headed by Kimberly A. Reed, the president of the Export-Import Bank.

South Africa's African National Congress' National Executive Council, led by Cyril Ramaphosa, appears to have taken meaningful steps against corruption while at the same time strengthening the president's position within the party.   

Cyril Ramaphosa established an anti-virus regime: social distancing and a lockdown. And the virus "curve" indeed appeared to flatten. He gets good international press, but must deal with a restive and poor population.
