The Nexus of Religion and Foreign Policy

In April 2007, former president of Portugal Jorge Sampaio was appointed as the High Representative for theAlliance of Civilizations, a UN initiative aimed at crossing cultural and religious divides between communities. Upon acceptance of his new position, President Sampaio stated his aim was to “promote understanding and reconciliation among cultures globally and, in particular, between Muslim and Western societies.” Please join President Sampaio for a discussion of his work.
