In Plateau, Nigerian Army Neutrality Questioned

The killings around Jos may be escalating. There have been accusations that the army stationed around Jos has favored the Muslim Hausa-Fulani “settlers” over the Christian Berom “indigenes,” and there are now recurring reports of civilians attacking soldiers who respond by killing their antagonists.
Previously, the army was seen as the ultimate guarantor of the Nigerian state and neutral in ethnic and religious disputes. In Plateau state, at least, that seems to be eroding rapidly.
