Nigeria Security Tracker: Weekly Update November 29-December 4

Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from November 29 to December 4, 2014. These incidents will be included in the Nigeria Security Tracker.

• November 29: Boko Haram attacked Shani, Borno, killing "scores" (estimated at forty).
• November 30: Gunmen attacked Ekiti prison, killing a warden and setting many prisoners free.
• December 1: Boko Haram attacked Damaturu, Yobe, resulting in a gunfight with police and soldiers. Thirty-three policemen, six soldiers, and twenty militants died.
• December 1: Two female suicide bombers attacked a Maiduguri market, killing themselves along with four others. Boko Haram is suspected.
• December 1: The military repelled a Boko Haram attack on Konduga, Borno, killing seventy insurgents.
• December 1: Four were killed in Kokona, Nasarawa when supporters of opposing aspirants clashed during the APC primaries.
• December 2: Four more died when thugs clashed during the APC primaries in Lagos after the results were announced.
• December 2: Fulani gunmen killed nine in Lafia, Nasarawa.
• December 4: Boko Haram attacked Bajoga and Ashaka towns in Gombe. Ashaka is home to the cement plan Boko Haram attacked last month to steal explosives. The military was able to fight them back, but "dozens" died (estimated at twenty-four).
