Nigeria Security Tracker: Weekly Update March 14-March 20

Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from March 14, 2015 to March 20, 2015. This update also represents violence related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. These incidents will be included in the Nigeria Security Tracker.

• March 15: Boko Haram killed 50 women and children and kidnapped 456 when they retreated from Damasak, Borno.*
• March 15: Fulani herdsmen killed ninety-five in Agatu, Benue
• March 15: Two PDP chiefs were killed in Akuku-Toru, Rivers.
• March 15: Nigerian troops retook Damasak in Mobbar, Borno. Approximately one hundred bodies of civilians have been found.
• March 15: Sectarian violence in Barkin Ladi, Plateau led to the deaths of nine.
• March 15: Boko Haram militants kill one in Djargagoroum, Chad.
• March 16: Nigerian troops retook Goniri in Gujba, as well as Yobe and Bama in Borno. No casualty figures have been released.
• March 17: Boko Haram killed one in Golfo, Cameroon.
• March 18: One APC candidate was killed in Ukanafun, Akwa Ibom. The circumstances of his death are yet to be determined.
• March 19: Boko Haram recaptured Gamboru Ngala in Borno, killing twenty.
• March 20: Gunmen killed two PDP leaders in Ikwerre, Rivers.
• March 20: Gunmen disrupted an APC rally in Obio/Akpor, Rivers. There were no casualties.
