 Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from April 15 to April 21, 2023. This update also represents violence related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. These incidents are included in the Nigeria Security Tracker.

 

 

  • April 15: Bandits killed thirty-three in Zangon Kataf, Kaduna. 
  • April 15: Kidnappers abducted eight in Ogbadibo, Benue. 
  • April 15: Electoral violence led to six deaths in Wudil, Kano. 
  • April 15: Police killed one ballot box snatcher in Fakai, Kebbi. 
  • April 15: Communal violence led to one death in Bogoro, Bauchi. 
  • April 16: Bandits killed "many" (est. at twenty) in Mangu, Plateau. 
  • April 16: Bandits killed one and abducted "several" (est. at ten) in Birnin-Gwari, Kaduna. 
  • April 16: Fifty bandits and sixteen vigilantes and civilians were killed during a clash in Mashegu, Niger State. 
  • April 16: Bandits killed twelve in Birnin-Magaji, Zamfara. 
  • April 17: Bandits killed three in Birnin-Magaji, Zamfara.  
  • April 17: Kidnappers killed one and abducted six in Kuje, Federal Capital Territory (FCT). 
  • April 17: Troops killed one bandit in Anka, Zamfara. 
  • April 17: Security operatives killed two civilians in Owerri, Imo. 
  • April 17: Kidnappers abducted one and killed two in Obio/Akpor, Rivers. 
  • April 18: A cult clash resulted in two deaths in Port Harcourt, Rivers. 
  • April 19: Kidnappers abducted thirteen in Kuje, FCT. 
  • April 19: Bandits killed three in Takum, Taraba. 
  • April 19: Bandits abducted five in Okpokwu, Benue.
  • April 20: Herdsmen killed twelve in Kokona, Nassarawa. 
  • April 21: Gunmen killed five police officers and two civilians in Ngor-Okapala, Imo. 
  • April 21: A cult clash resulted in two deaths in Port Harcourt, Rivers.
