 Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from April 1 to April 7, 2023. This update also represents violence related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. These incidents are included in the Nigeria Security Tracker

 

 

  • April 1: Nigerian troops killed eleven bandits in Birnin-Gwari, Kaduna. 
  • April 2: Herders killed one and abducted four at a church in Logo, Benue. 
  • April 2: Bandits abducted two students in Bungudu, Zamfara. 
  • April 2: Bandits killed two and kidnapped two police officers and thirty-two others in Mashegu, Niger State.
  • April 2: Gunmen killed ten in Dekina, Kogi. 
  • April 3: Boko Haram killed three in Hong, Adamawa. 
  • April 3: Herders killed three in Apa, Benue. 
  • April 3: Bandits abducted ten in Kachia, Kaduna. 
  • April 3: Herders killed three in Oturkpo, Benue. 
  • April 4: Gunmen killed four in Zangon Kataf, Kaduna. 
  • April 4: Nigerian troops killed eighteen Boko Haram militants in Bama, Borno.  
  • April 5: Gunmen killed five in Alimosho, Lagos. 
  • April 5: Herders killed one police officer and fifty others in Oturkpo, Benue. 
  • April 5: Kidnappers abducted a traditional ruler in Pankshin, Plateau. 
  • April 5: Herders killed one and abducted eight in Ndokwa West, Delta.  
  • April 6: Three police officers and one gunman were killed during a clash in Egor, Edo. 
  • April 6: Communal violence led to eight deaths in Ussa, Taraba. 
  • April 7: Bandits abducted one hundred in Tsafe, Zamfara. 
  • April 7: Herders killed forty-three internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Guma, Benue. 
  • April 7: Communal violence led to "several" (est. at ten) deaths in Gwadabawa, Sokoto.
